The PRCA is the world’s largest professional PR body, and its DARE Awards aim to bring together and reward the very best communications campaigns and PR professionals from across the region.
It doesn’t seem all that long ago since it was first announced that we were nominated for six awards in five strong categories at this year’s DARE event, and on the night, held on 3 July at The Council House in Birmingham, Edson Evers took home awards for the best Consumer Relations campaign and the best Media Relations campaign, for its Calor Rural Community Fund campaign for the UK’s leading LPG provider, Calor Gas.
The objective behind the Rural Community Fund was to position Calor as a brand synonymous with rural life. To achieve this, Edson Evers felt that Calor needed to play a key role in the lives of those at the heart of their brand, supporting the projects and initiatives that make a difference to the day-to-day lives of rural communities.
As a result, Edson Evers pitced the idea of the Calor Rural Community Fund – and annual scheme that offers rural communities the opportunity to nominate a project that makes a positive impact on local life, with the chance of winning a grant for the development and support of the project. Edson Evers undertook a full consumer and media relations campaign, with enviable results.
- 216 community-based projects applied to receive funding
- 24,251 people registered to vote on the Fund’s shortlisted entries
- 182,604 votes were cast on the shortlisted entries, with the top project receiving over 15,000 votes
- 566 pieces of coverage highlighting the Fund
- 92 million opportunities to see news of the Fund
The news comes as Edson Evers has also been shortlisted for two Midlands CIPR Pride Awards, in the ‘Corporate and Business Comms Campaign’ and the ‘Low Budget Campaign’ categories.
